Having conducted some secondary research in to current cinema demographics, I can see the horror films are quite popular in some countries, at least in U.K. has audience.


According to the table of 2012 UK in Dependent Films Released, you can see the percent of all releases in horror got 19.5 points, which was in third place, in first place are Drama and Documentary. But their percent of total box office are not the highest, it’s Comedy, and then is Horror.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

According to the table of Types of Films That the General Public Typically Enjoy Watching, Gender by age shows the female and male who likes to watch horror are all less than 35 years old, the female audiences were more than male audiences. But the percent of people willing to watch horror decreased in the people who are older 35 years old. And the female audiences were lower than male audiences.

Parents who watched horror were less than other categories  based on the table, the population of parents interested in horror was nearly as many as the parents who were not interested.
 

In Social Class section, C2, the skilled manual workers watched horror films the most. Then C1and DE are second most result.

C1, supervisory, clerical & junior managerial, administrative and professional occupations. DE, they are working class people and non-working people, mostly they are unskilled manual workers, casual grade workers, pensioners and students. The last one is AB, They are Higher & intermediate, managerial, administrative and professional occupations.

The people who are in C2 social class, I think they usually have a regular time table of their life and job. Start and finish work on time, and usually they don’t need to work overtime and sit in the office. So the C2 class people must have free time to do what they want, things like having dinner with family, browsing the internet, watching TV shows or DVD in home, etc. They will be really tired and exhausted, because they’ve worked whole day, and the job probably is doing same things every day, they want somethings different, something would make them excited, shocked and looking for adventure. To watch horror movies, is a way for every class of people to feel fresh and excited, but it most popular in C2 class.
